3D laser scanning technology allows 3D reality capture for the AEC industry. By measuring the distance that laser travelled between the surface and the laser scanner, a powerful recording of field data of the surface shape of the buildings is collected. The collected 3D point-cloud data can then be converted to a manageable BIM model.
