Live Demo of the Upgraded CIC Carbon Assessment Tool and BIM Integration
Climate change is a major global challenge and the construction industry needs to take proactive actions to address the crisis. “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.” The CIC has been dedicated to assisting the industry in assessing and managing the carbon emissions of the construction process. In 2019, the CIC developed the Carbon Assessment Tool (CAT) to evaluate the carbon performance of buildings and infrastructure in Hong Kong from development design to the end of construction. The CAT was further enhanced last year, with improvements in speed, efficiency and capacity, to facilitate the construction industry to contribute to the goal of carbon reduction.
In addition, the speakers will introduce a CIC-funded project, iBEAM Unison, which applies the BIM model and focuses on data analysis to assess the "embodied carbon" of buildings to provide insights for more sustainable development. The latest initiatives and prospects to support the industry in achieving its sustainability goals will also be introduced. Join us and learn more about carbon reduction!
